I would recommend this game overall to those who enjoy games such as 'The Turing Test' or 'Portal 2,' as it combines an interesting narrative with a unique setting and gameplay. It is also reasonably priced so it is great value for money considering the length of the game. Aside from the cons, most of which I can easily overlook, this game is a clear winner in my book.Pros- Stunning visuals, from the decor of the hotel to the simple aesthetic of the puzzle rooms. I wish the Penrose was a real hotel! If it's one thing you'll notice, it's how professionally designed the hotel is.- Captivating storyline that enticed me to continue solving the puzzles even when I came close to giving up.- Fitting musical scores and sound tracks, particularly the main theme with the orchestra.- Puzzle mechanics are easy to learn but get progressively more difficult to master. Overall it provides a balanced difficulty level.- (SPOILER) Replayability element for those interested in discovering the ending they didn't choose (like myself). The puzzles are much faster to progress through the second time around once I mastered the puzzle mechanics. Cons- Communication device is always in the bottom right corner of the screen. I know that it is needed to indicate which colour I currently absorbed, but there must be a better way to implement this instead of having it take up such a large portion of the screen with no option of disabling it.- There are many puzzles in which I had to restart manually from the puase menu because I committed a mistake which traps me in a section with no ability to escape or proceed. This was a bit annoying, especially when I end up reaching the end of a long puzzle only to find myself having to restart because I forgot a minor detail (which happened frequently on my first playthrough). - Not well optimised on lower end systems as there were sections with severe frame drops. The graphics options available are 'best' and 'fast' (which I used), with no room to manually toggle specific graphical settings on or off.- No option to manually save within a puzzle. This became an issue with a handful of puzzles which had individual mini puzzles within them, as dying or quitting the game midway would always bring you back to the beginning of the puzzle. I suggest having a manual save option while keeping the 'restart challenge' option to cover both scenarios.. The game is pretty nice. 4 hours roughly to do the story, I have guessed the end of the game at 1/3 of the game but that did not changed the experience. Puzzles can be tricky in the way that you can get stuck and have to restart the level, but they are not that complicated. Completely worth the price if you like Portal style game. A story that elicited more than a few eyerolls told mostly by Navi with a British accent meets a decent first-person puzzler that begs for a checkpoint system and has some wonky physics. I know FPP games are hard to come by, but do yourself a favor and (re)play Portal 2 or Q.U.B.E. 2 instead.. It's been a while since first person environmental puzzle (a.k.a. Portalesque) game this good has been released. In my opinion, it's weaker than Talos Principle and The Witness (the two greats) as well as Mind: Path to Thalamus, and Antichamber, but it's better than Q.U.B.E., Q.U.B.E.2, Qubeh-1, and .T.E.S.T: Expected Behaviour, not to mention story-less BLIK. It's also better, but not by much, than the Turing Test both in terms of puzzles and story. The brilliant NaissanceE and Vanishing of Ethan Carter are too different to compare. And yes, there are some glitches. For me the game got stuck in one level right at the exit, had to replay it four times to get out. Thankfully, it all worked out.Speaking of technicalities, the story is sufficiently unique and good, imho. The aforementioned Q.U.B.E.2 that so many critics liked seems childish and dumb in comparison. Far right enthusiasts should be warned though. The length is good (i.e. it is not long, thankfully). Puzzles have the Antichamber vibe, but, obviously, they are different. And there's variety as well. I managed to get surprised by the new mechanics introduced in the course of the game. Very well done.. For more reviews like this follow my Curator page Phenix EmporiumIf you are a fan of first-person puzzle games or walking simulators with puzzle elements, then do yourself a favor and get this game right now, it's a must buy. It has an intense, well-presented, well-written story, with great voice acting and solid dialogue, a fantastic atmosphere supported by everything from graphics, to theme, sound design, to sound track. The puzzles revolve around a fairly simple set of core mechanics that are easy to grasp, but it explores those with interesting and creative variations, certainly not the hardest or most in-depth puzzles, although one thing to note is that as others have mentioned in their reviews, it is quite easy to get yourself stuck in puzzles and forced to restart them, most of the individual puzzles aren't too long so I didn't find it an issue, but it is something to note and probably my only con about the game, on that note for some people, they may find the number of puzzles to be lacking compared to more puzzle intensive first-person puzzlers, though frankly, I thought it achieved a very nice balance. So yea, if you like this genre or similar genres of games, I think you'll really enjoy this one.. Awesome puzzle game, terrible forced story. Get it for the puzzles, not for anything else. Portal inspired and casual.
